How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
CR: I have been in the plumbing industry for 17 years. At a young age, I started working for my father’s company. I would clean the shop, pull materials for the plumbers for the following day and sort scrap metal.
What drew you into the industry?
CR: I like hands-on work that can be challenging. Working in the plumbing industry, I have realized there are countless ways to accomplish a task. This brings a sense of art to the craft, as well as constant critical thinking.
What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
CR: There is nothing like being the one person to solve a complicated problem that a customer has been struggling with. It solidifies a confidence in your knowledge and the customer is highly appreciative for you taking the time to figure out the true cause of the issue.
What motivates you every day?
CR: My family! I have two beautiful girls and a lovely wife that inspire me to be the best man I can be.
What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
CR: It’s not all just toilets and plungers. Plumbers help protect the health of the nation, as well as provide comforts like hot water, heating and relaxing by a nice fuel fire.
What has been the proudest moment in your career so far?
CR: Scoring a 93 on my journeyman’s license test!
What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
CR: Though I take pride in my skill, I love to tackle just about any task at hand. I love learning different aspects of other trades and professions.
Why he was chosen as a Next Gen All Star Top 20 Under 40 winner:
“Curtis has succeeded his father by taking over Frontier Plumbing, a company that his father ran for 30 years, and Curtis has run the last nine years. His passion for plumbing was developed from the ripe age of 12 years old working for his father's company alongside his older brothers and his father's team of plumbers. He has had some big shoes to fill upholding his father's legacy.
“Although the company shifted from a new construction focus to service and repair, Curtis has led the company with deep-rooted values of honesty and trust. From the initial phone call to the first service, Curtis wins over his customers with his genuine care for their wellbeing and desire to share his knowledge, so that each and every one of his customers has a better understanding of how their plumbing works by the time the service is finished. His customers become part of the Frontier family and the majority become long-term customers who turn to him whenever they are in need. Just read the Google reviews and see for yourself.
“He offers small-town thoughtful service in the big city of Las Vegas. He is working hard to overturn the plumber stereotype and fears that linger in customer's minds upon having to call a plumber. He has already redefined the word ‘plumber’ for all of his customers and countless to come. I truly believe that this nomination would be a token of appreciation for the heart and soul that he pours into taking care of his customers and that, although most do not see the after-hours behind-the-scenes work he does to research and find the best materials to fit their exact needs, that his doing so is met with gratefulness.”— Kevin Rennie
