High-voltage commercial boiler
Sequoia is a high voltage immersed electrode hot water boiler series for large commercial and industrial applications requiring a virtually 100% energy efficient, emission-free heating solution. Available in seven sizes from 2,500 kW to 60,000 kW, the boiler family delivers simplicity and cost-efficiency during installation, operation and maintenance, the company says. The boiler is simple to operate. Its automatic controls provide seamless operation over an output range of 10% to 100% (10:1 modulation) to optimize demand fluctuations while reducing operating and supervisory personnel. Users can take advantage of lower energy rates during daily or seasonal off-peak periods to significantly reduce energy costs. Mechanical room space is saved, as Sequoia matches the capacity of large gas- or oil-fired boilers (up to 60 MW) in a much smaller footprint.

Commercial boilers/volume water heaters
The new Brute XTR commercial boilers and volume water heaters are available in six sizes, ranging from 399 MBH to 1500 MBH, and deliver AHRI-certified thermal efficiency of more than 96%. The Brute XTR line-up features: a reliable stainless steel, low-pressure drop water tube heat exchanger; dual venturi combustion system for 10:1 turndown; PVC, CPVC or PP venting materials; variable speed boiler pump; top gas and water connections and easy access service panels for installation flexibility; and a convenient touchscreen control platform.

Fayette Pipe has announced the launch of its USA-made ASTM A53 Type E Grade A ERW XH Schedule 80 black steel pipe for steam, water, gas or air lines. Fayette’s extra heavy Schedule 80 is available in diameters of 1/2” to 1-1/2” and from 10' up to 21' in length in plain, threaded and coupling ends. It is suitable for welding and threading. Schedule 80 is ready for shipment anywhere in the continental United States. All Fayette Pipe products are hydrostatic and nondestructive electric tested to ensure the highest quality, the company says.

Gripple expanded its UniGrip wire suspension system to now support heavy-duty duct and multi-tier piping runs. Joining Gripple’s UniGrip 2, 3, and 4 Cable Hanger family is the UniGrip 6, a single-channel cable fastener capable of accommodating 1/4” cable and boasting a SWL (Safe Working Load) of 800 lbs. The UniGrip 6 fastener features a 3/4” male thread for attaching to back-to-back strut or brackets, with both Center Exit and Side Exit versions available for the cable exit. The UG6 Cable Hanger Kit now opens up the door for the trapezing of large heavy-duty ductwork and multi-tier piping runs — all with cable hangers instead of threaded rod. UniGrip 6 offers huge contractor benefits on projects such as hospitals, data centers and other large industrial and commercial builds, by allowing contractors to replace threaded rod and the associated handling challenges. The UniGrip 6 has been independently tested and approved to support safe working loads of 800 lbs and is ICC and UL 2239 approved for the support of conduit.

Air-source heat pump
The Alpha Aire II is a single-package air source heat pump designed for 100% Outdoor Air applications with energy recovery, making it an environmentally friendly and forward-thinking choice for climate-conscious building projects. It builds on the original Alpha Aire and expands the CFM range up to 2500 CFM. The unit is shipped in two sections: the evaporator section ships separately from the rest. The unit is intended to be installed above the ceiling and helps meet decarbonization goals by its ECM fan. An energy recovery wheel assists in energy recovery, and modulating hot gas reheat is incorporated into the unit as well in order to control the leaving air temperature off of the unit. The unit is currently offered with a digital scroll unit but will be offered with a variable-speed compressor as well.

Heat exchanger
Taco’s U-Tube style shell-and-tube, steam-to-liquid or liquid-to-liquid heat exchangers are available in 4-inch to 30-inch diameters with a wide range of materials to fit various applications. These heat exchangers offer connection sizes from 1 to 14 inches and are designed, constructed, and tested to ASME Section VIII, Div. 1 requirements. New cast iron or steel-flanged heads offer a lower profile and are available for 12-inch to 16-inch sizes. The NSF/ANSI 372 certified heat exchangers — available in 2- or 4-pass construction — provide typical working pressures/temperatures of 150 PSI and 375°F. Higher working pressure and temperature ranges are optional. A high degree of flexibility in materials helps specifiers meet varying application requirements. Coming soon in 2024 are 12- to 16-inch cast 316SS flanged heads and 4- to 10-inch cast 316SS threaded heads.

Screw heat pump
The York YVWH Water-to-Water Dual Variable Speed Screw Heat Pump is the first screw heat pump in North America to use R-1234ze refrigerant, the company says. R-1234ze is a refrigerant with an ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) of 1, enabling the YVWH to go considerably beyond the refrigerant regulations that go into effect starting Jan. 1, 2025. The YVWH supports simultaneous heating and cooling functions and can be operated in three modes: heating only, cooling only or simultaneous heating and cooling. Especially advantageous for high-temperature hot water heating applications, the YWVH can provide water temperatures up to 176° F (80° C). At that temperature, the unit can provide 4,050 MBH of heating while simultaneously providing 200 tons of chilled water cooling at 41° F (5° C). The YVWH also features variable-speed drive and has excellent turndown that allows it to run with as low as 25% of the design-heating load.
