After learning the trades during two tours in the Navy Seabees, Guy M. Cooper Sr. decided to start his own business — Guy M. Cooper Plumbing & Heating was founded in 1930. While the mechanical contracting firm has a long, storied history of providing high-quality work and high-quality jobs for all its employees, the third-generation owners Gary Cooper and Glenn Cooper decided it was time for a rebrand in 2021.
The company is now known as Cooper Mechanical Solutions with two main divisions: Cooper Mechanical Construction and Cooper Mechanical Services.
“We wanted to reflect the capabilities and wide variety of work the company now performs,” explains Nicholas Cooper, industrial engineer, who represents the fourth-generation of the company.
The company’s expertise ranges from industrial new construction to residential service in HVAC, sheet metal, plumbing and fire protection.
“Across all divisions, our goal is providing the highest quality work and service,” Nicholas Cooper says. “While our company specializes in many different trades and scopes of work, our commitment to hiring the highest quality people is consistent across all divisions.”
Currently, Cooper employs 60 people, and is hiring in all positions. The company also has 80 fleet vehicles made up of 2015 Ford Transits, 2008 Isuzu trucks with Hackney bodies, GMC stake body trucks and more.
When the company rebranded, the trucks also received a facelift. The new design is sharp, bold, modern and clear, Nicholas Cooper points out.
“When we rebranded last year, we knew everything needed a facelift to have an impact. We wanted to convey the service people should expect from Cooper, which is the highest quality professional service with no exceptions.” – Nicholas cooper
“For our services wrap, we stayed away from bright neon colors or the red, white, and blue that are typical for home service companies,” he says. “Instead, we used a deep gold to convey high quality professional service coupled with sleek text and graphics that allude to our modern capabilities and commitment to continuous improvement.”
The company wanted a color to separate it from other home service contractors, and felt gold conveys the professionalism they wanted to get across.
“We have a ‘C’ logo that is used across all divisions in different colors,” Nicholas Cooper notes. “It is a modern, clean logo to reflect our top capabilities. When we rebranded last year, we knew everything needed a facelift to have an impact. We wanted to convey the service people should expect from Cooper, which is the highest quality professional service with no exceptions.”
The new professional logo and truck wraps match the firm’s slogan: “Committed to excellence since 1930.”
“As a nearly 100-year-old company, our reputation is second to none, and our need to market is minimal. However, Cooper is undergoing rapid growth and we’ve recently started marketing using social media, SEO, Google and other local sources as well. We take pride in our people — they’re what set us apart from other contractors in our market. Most all our mechanics have been in the field for decades.”
